Milan, February 23rd 2013 - “Once upon a time there was a forest thick with as much love and beauty as could possibly be imagined. One day we discovered that our happy endings had been stolen from us. Welcome to our world” by Philipp Plein.
Once upon a time there was an enchanted forest and a beautiful, mysterious lady strolling softly through it. She was not afraid. She proceeded confidently, driven by the desire to find the love, beauty and happiness that had been taken from her. An unwavering voyage, as she ventured through the lights and shadows of her thoughts.
Nothing and no one could stop her! And she emerged triumphant! The new PHILIPP PLEIN Autumn/Winter 2013/14 collection is dedicated to this romantic and courageous lady. Like a fairy tale, this collection is bursting with the wonders of Italian-made luxury: furs, coats, dresses and accessories. An exhibition of spectacular hand craftsmanship, that exquisite savoir-faire handed down from generation to generation. Each article is made in keeping with the dictates of Italy’s great traditions in tailoring, and in textile, leather and fur production. The serpent theme, in celebration of the current Chinese year of the snake, is featured in prints, embroideries, metallic details, and especially in accessories.
The furs are truly majestic: leopard-print lapin; black &crimson multi-coloured fox, with leopard-print inserts; silver fox for tailored coats brought up-to-date with snap fastenings; mink lining for the military-inspired doublebreasted trench coat; oversize fox gilets, laterally trimmed with satin inserts studded with silver pearls and golden micro-bullets; murmasky fur on the sleeves of sheepskin Montgomery parkas, on collars of fleece jackets and for hoods on camouflage nylon jackets decorated with jewelled braiding; Mongolian lamb fur for the easy-to-wear jackets with oversize applied leather pockets and jewelled skull; sheepskin lined leather jackets with quilted sleeves. All-black snakeskin for the jacquard biker jackets, featuring snakeskin sleeves in natural shades, trimmed with gold. And a variety of matching bags and boots.
For the brave heroine. Nappa leather jackets with all-over fringe and gold chains. Like a tattoo, the suede version is embroidered on the back with studs and pearls. Plenty of denim, laterally embellished with arrow motifs. The reverse sheepskin jacket-gilet with detachable knit sleeves and a crochet collar featuring brightly coloured pearls and antique tribal coins. The black leather suit is embroidered with a multitude of flowers, butterflies and colourful precious stones.
“Sleeping beauty” For our protagonist: the black mini dress fringed or trimmed with CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements; long dresses and tunics in sensual printed silk crepe, in fantasy and foulard motifs; mermaid dresses in silk jersey with cut away back and shoulders, cinched in at the waist with metallic snake belts (to be worn with “spider” bracelets studded with stones and crystals, and ultra-high heeled pumps, or with studded combat boots or sneakers accented with fox fur.) Knitwear: slim and long sweaters embellished with stones and crystals on the shoulders; metallic net and webbing in silver laminated wool.
Like Cinderella’s legendary glass slipper, this décolleté fully customised both in shape and materials, features a personalised embossed sole, so that if it is ever lost … a true prince will find it. The version covered in a cascade of powdered diamonds is an example of absolute luxury. Sensual fringes and pearls adorn straps, while the ultra-high heels are embellished with studs and crystals.
