Spring/Summer 2015 womenswear CampaignTweet
For his Spring/Summer 2015 advertising campaign, designer Philipp Plein lures us into an eerie and surreal world where colorful forms and sparkling visions light up the dark abyss of liquid valleys. Faceless yet lovely creatures magically appear from the shadows , as in a future dream where humans metamorphose into new forms. In shapes and colors that evoke those extraordinary inhabitants at the bottom of the sea. The visionary team comprised of fashion’s rising star Philipp Plein, art director and master showman Etienne Russo, and world acclaimed photographer Steven Klein have combined their talents transforming moments from the designer’s spring/summer 2015 Milan fashion show into haunting and mysterious underwater apparitions. Inspired by the ocean, from coral barriers to deep underwater canyons, the collection features shimmering Hollywood golden age gowns in silver, red and deep blue; while leather jackets, cocktail dresses, sweatshirts and mini-skirts in flashes of yellow, turquoise and coral dart through the darkness like exotic underwater beings.
“I wanted to take my audience on a trip through extreme reality, to give them an unforgettable experience of the senses through light, sound and projections, allowing them a virtual visit to the mysterious and hidden corners of the sea. The campaign represents our fantastic voyage and permits a wider audience to experience the emotion of this spectacular show even if they weren’t there”
“Meeting Philipp Plein was like being hit by a tornado, I found a match to being daring and risky. I found him to be progressive in his willingness to embrace new concepts in advertising that are not the norm, he inspires advertising as art. We thrived on the variable factors and consequences presented while shooting during the fashion show, which led us into the unknown and forced us to come up with a solution and resolve the raw material into art.”
